Thaton Motorsport

Θaton Motorsport is St. Catherine's British School's first official STEM Racing team in Athens, Greece. We are seven students, aged 16–17, who combine design, simulation, branding, and sponsorship with the aim of representing our school and country on the global stage in the STEM Racing World Finals.

How Θaton Began

The team was founded in October 2025, when an exciting new idea was brought forth of starting our school's first official STEM Racing team.

The aim was to build confidence, technical skill, and a shared sense of purpose, while promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) within the St. Catherine's community and hoping to establish a tradition of the competition for years to come.

After recruiting the initial members, the team had its first meeting that same month, where each member's role was established and the team name was chosen.

What We Do

Our team works across several domains at the same time. The engineering department handles the main task — designing, simulating, manufacturing, and testing miniature F1-style CO2-powered cars, with the goal of making the fastest car possible.

CAD (Computer-Aided Design) is handled in Autodesk Fusion 360, where the car is modelled. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is then used to test its aerodynamics in SimScale.

Finally, the prototype is 3D-printed for a final look before it's manufactured on a 4-axis CNC machine.

The Full Picture

Meanwhile, the enterprise team runs the Θaton brand — managing our social media on TikTok and Instagram, coordinating communication with STEM Racing organizers and our sponsors, and organizing events in school to spread awareness about the team.

In STEM Racing, you are judged on the full picture — not just your technical ability. Θaton Motorsport is dedicated to being a complete brand in every domain.

What Does Θaton Mean?

The name Thaton — or Θaton, stylized with the Greek theta — derives from the Ancient Greek word "θᾶττον", which means "faster" in the comparative tense.

Both our stylized name and our logo use the Greek letter theta to directly incorporate and represent our Greek heritage, as well as our principles of optimization and competitiveness.
